MADISON, WIS.— Cara Walls and Kinley McNicoll each scored twice as No. 19 Wisconsin blanked the South Dakota State women's soccer team, 5-0, Friday night at the McClimon Soccer Complex.

Wisconsin moves to 3-0-0 on the season, while South Dakota State falls to 0-2-0.

"Wisconsin is every bit as good as their national ranking," head coach Lang Wedemeyer said. "In games at this level, if you make a mistake, they will punish you, and we just made too many mistakes tonight. We have a lot if work to do ahead of us."

The Badgers jumped out to a 1-0 lead just under six minutes in as Walls took a pass from Rose Lavelle and found the back of the net from 15 yards out.

Wisconsin struck again just past the 12-minute mark off a free kick. After Nicole Inskeep committed a foul for playing the ball outside of the designated area, McNicoll took the free kick and beat Inskeep high.

Wisconsin tacked on a third goal early in the second half, with McNicoll netting her second of the game off a pass from Lavelle. With a little over 30 minutes left to play, Walls managed to dribble past Inskeep and bury the ball into the open net, notching her second goal of the game and giving the Badgers a 4-0 lead.

In the 69th minute, Elisa Stamatakis made a save on a Lavelle shot, but Marisa Kresge pounced on the rebound and buried it to build the Wisconsin advantage to five goals. Lavelle finished the night with three assists.

The Badgers outshot the Jackrabbits, 24-4, overall, with 15 of their shots being on target. Inskeep made six saves in 66 minutes of play. Stamatakis made two saves in 24 minutes of action.

Stamatakis made her first appearance of the season, relieving Inskeep in net in the 65th minute. She now needs four more appearances to move into third all-time in goalkeeper games played.

The Jackrabbits travel to St. Paul, Minn. to take on Minnesota Sunday, Aug. 31 at 1 p.m.
