The South Dakota State men's tennis team played Valparaiso tough, but the Crusaders edged the Jacks 4-3.

Valpo won the the always-important doubles point, which proved to be decisive in the end.

SDSU won at the top spot, as Parker Lawley and Andrea Boglić bested Eric Honert and Lucas Waak in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (8-6). The other two doubles matches did not finish in the Jacks' favor, however, as the Crusaders won 8-4 at No. 2 and 8-1 at No. 3 for the team point.

In singles, the two teams split the six matches, which was not enough for SDSU.

Boglić, Mateus Moreira and Lawley were all third-set winners at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3.

Boglić made it a sweep versus Honert at the top spot, using three sets and a third-set tiebreaker in the win. Boglić won the first set 6-2, dropped the second 3-6, but outlasted Honert in the third, 7-6 (7-2).

All three sets in Moreira's match had greater separation. Moreira dropped the first set to Chris Baum at No. 2, but rallied to win 6-2, 6-3.

In the No. 3 slot, Lawley won the first set versus Michael Savaglio 6-4, lost the second by the same score, but closed out the match with a 6-3 win in the third.

Valparaiso won the remaining matches in straight sets.
