ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State’s McKenzie Wolf was named The Summit League’s Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Fort Wayne over the weekend.

Wolf and the Jackrabbits posted a 3-0 win over the Mastodons on Sunday. She scored on her lone shot attempt of the game. Her goal in the 60th minute gave the Jackrabbits a 2-0 lead over the Mastodons.

Wolf, a freshman defender, has started all 17 games for the Jackrabbits this year and has helped SDSU post 11 shutouts.

Her goal against Fort Wayne is the first of her career.

The Summit League has honored Nicole Inskeep, Katie McNeary and Dani Patterson with the award earlier this season. Inskeep has won the award twice this year.

The Jackrabbits will play North Dakota State at 8 p.m. (EST) on Friday in the semi-finals of The Summit League Soccer Championships in Fort Wayne, Ind. Denver will play host Fort Wayne at 5 p.m. (EST) in the other semi-final matchup.
