Softball blanked at Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The South Dakota State softball team played its final two games before Summit League play on Saturday, but dropped both games of a doubleheader at Kansas, both by 8-0 scores.

The losses drop the Jackrabbits to 5-14 on the season, while the Jayhawks improve to 17-7.

The Jayhawks opened with four runs in the first inning of the opener and then added three runs in the third before ending the game with a single run in the fifth inning.

Sammy Bingham, Elyse Eitel and Kelly Kleppin all went 1 for 2 at the plate in the game, while Jennifer Sutton took the loss in the circle.

Kleppin and Emily Weber recorded the two Jackrabbit hits in the nightcap, with Ashlyn Bender taking the loss.

The Jackrabbits get 10 days off before starting Summit League play at Fort Wayne on March 21.
