Jacks fall again at Northern Colorado
GREELEY, Colo. - South Dakota State dropped its third straight one-run game on Saturday at Northern Colorado, as the Bears walked off a winner for the second straight game in a 2-1 win over the Jackrabbits to secure the series sweep.
The loss drops the Jacks to 4-15 on the season, while the Bears go over the .500 mark with a 15-14 record.
Alex Landon went 3-for-3 on the day as the designated player to lead the Jackrabbit offense. Devon Reick went 2-for-3 from the plate and knocked in the lone Jackrabbit run in the fourth inning. Kelly Kleppin also went 2-for-3 on the day in the loss.
The Bears tied the game with an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth, and then walked off with the win with a two-out RBI single in the seventh.
Pam Nicholson went the distance for the Jacks, scattering six hits with just the one earned run, five walks and a strikeout.
The Jackrabbits return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Lincoln, Neb., to take on Nebraska in a single game at 5 p.m.
