Jacks drop rubber game at Oakland
ROCHESTER, Mich. - South Dakota State got homeruns from Morgan McCabe and Alex Landon, but Oakland rallied to come back and beat the Jackrabbits 5-3 in the rubber game of the three game Summit League series.
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 10-22-1 on the season overall and to 4-11 in The Summit League, while the Golden Grizzlies improve to 5-31 overall and to 3-15 in league play.
Oakland got on the board with a single run in the fourth, but the Jacks got it right back in the top of fifth on Landon's solo homer to center field that put SDSU on top 3-1.
It all came apart in the Oakland half of the fifth though, as the host Golden Grizzlies scored three runs on three hits, with the benefit of an SDSU error to take their first lead of the game a 4-3.
Oakland would add an insurance run in the sixth, and then seal the game with a walk and three strikeouts in the top of the seventh.
The two homeruns accounted for two of the Jackrabbit hits, while Oakland put up four runs, three earned, on seven hits off of Jackrabbit starter Kori Seidlitz, and one run on three hits off of Mindy Lorimor, who pitched the final one and two thirds innings in relief.
The Jackrabbits make their final road trip of the season next week, when they travel to Cedar City, Utah to take on Southern Utah , starting with a doubleheader on Friday at 12 p.m. MT.
