SDSU sets school record at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The team of Megan Bren, Carly Carper, Gina Fritz and Krista Creager set the school record in the 1600-meter relay with their time of 4:01.43. The previous time was set back in 2008 by the team of Barrios, Garner, Wollman and Storm.

In the distance medley relay, Tera Potts, Bren, Laura Lawton and Erin Hargens combined for a time of 12:04.46. Their time today ranks fourth in SDSU history.

Brooke Garner finished ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 184' 1.00".

The Jackrabbits also competed at the Drake Alternative in St. Peter, Minn. and had numerous athletes win and and/or set personal bests.

Drake Alternative:

Ashley Odegaard won the 100-meter dash with her time of 12.05. She won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.01.

She also won the long jump with a distance of 16’ 10.75”.

Jessica McDonald finished second overall in the 400-meter dash

Karley Konkol won the 800-meter run with her time of 2:22.67. Three other Jackrabbits finished in the top five as well. Samantha Anderson finished third with a time of 2:23.24, Brooke Peterson took fourth in 2:26.30 and Erica Meyer placed fifth with her time of 2:26.95.

The Jackrabbits had the top three finishers in the 1500-meter run. Peterson won the event with her time of 4:48.90. Jessica Eibs set a personal best (4:49.94) as she placed second and in third was Courtney Neubert who also recorded a new personal best (4:56.30).

Cheyanne Bowers ran the 5000-meter run in 19.49.23. She finished 11th overall.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Lori Foltz won the event with a time of 1:05.21. 

Kirsten Anderson placed fourth overall in the 3000-meter steeplechase as she completed the race in 11:56.01.

SDSU found success in the 4x400-meter relay as they had two top four finishes. One relay team won the event and another Jackrabbit relay team placed fourth.

Kali Olson won the high jump with her height of 5’ 07.75". Her height today is a new personal best. Her bested her previous mark by one inch. Olson tied Elaine Zell for fifth best in SDSU history.

In the pole vault, Amy Leiferman finished sixth with a height of 11’ 00.75”. She recorded a new personal best with her result today.

McKenzie Johnson won the shot put with her toss of 43’ 10.50”. She also finished eighth in the hammer throw with her distance of 151’ 08.00”.

Shelby Assmus took third in the discus with her throw of 138’ 2.00”. Assmus also recorded a mark of 160’ 00.50” in the hammer throw to finish second.

Another Jackrabbit victory came from Amy Paulzine in the javelin throw. Paulzine recorded a mark of 139’ 03.00”.

The Jackrabbits will be back in action again next weekend at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Howard Wood Dakota Relays is the final tune-up before the conference meet.
