South Dakota State University student-athletes continued their academic excellence in the 2010 Fall Semester, compiling an overall grade-point average of 3.161.

Of the Jackrabbits' 19 varsity sports teams, 16 compiled team GPAs of 3.0 or better during the fall term. The women's basketball team led the way with a 3.760 team GPA.

In addition, 18 of 19 teams - indoor and outdoor track are counted as one team for each gender - ended the fall term with cumulative team GPAs better than 3.0. Jackrabbit student-athletes carry an average 3.216 cumulative GPA.

Individually, 64 percent of the nearly 500 Jackrabbit student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.0 or better during the fall term. Nearly 36 percent turned in a 3.5 GPA or higher, with 13 percent - one of every eight student-athletes - compiling a perfect 4.0 GPA.

SDSU student-athletes are enrolled in more than 80 different majors, with biology and economics two of the most popular.
