Spring finally arrived, and just in time for the 31st Annual Stan Marshall Golf Classic, set for June 3-4, at Brookings Country Club.
The committee worked hard making plans for the event that no longer coincides with the auction. The separation of the auction and golf classic allowed for some much needed changes to make the Stan Marshall Golf Classic, and the new Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction, much better events moving forward.
Over the last year, the Stan Marshal Committee received a lot of valuable feedback on how to improve this exciting golf tournament. They listened and responded with numerous changes. First, the event begins with a social gathering on Friday, June 3, at the Brookings Country Club. Plan to tee it up with friends for a practice round Friday afternoon and stay for the festivities after golf.
The golf tournament begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The committee capped the field at 32 teams, with groups playing alone rather than two groups playing together, as in the past. This change should dramatically improve the pace of play. The 2011 event also features two formats for teams to register for and win prizes: "Four Men and a Goat" and "Texas Scramble."
