South Dakota State University placed a league-high 148 student-athletes on the Academic All-Summit League Team during the recently completed spring semester, conference officials announced Wednesday.
The Jackrabbits' 148 selections came from 12 sports which competed for conference championships during the winter and spring seasons. Oakland finished second with 139 all-league honorees, followed by Southern Utah with 113. League-wide, 1,000 student-athletes received the recognition for posting a term grade-point average of at least 3.0. A total of 425 student-athletes were honored as Distinguished Scholars for compiling a term GPA of 3.6 or higher, with 183 turning in perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Collectively, SDSU student-athletes from all 21 varsity sports posted an average cumulative GPA of 3.288 during the 2010-11 academic year.
