National champion wrestler Don Trapp was inducted into the Jackrabbit Sports Hall of Fame during on-campus ceremonies in the fall of 2012.

Trapp won a pair of North Central Conference wrestling titles and became the second Jackrabbit wrestler to win an individual national championship. The Milbank native claimed the NCC title at 160 pounds in 1969 and added a conference title in 1970 after moving up to the 177-pound weight class. Trapp won the 177-pound title at the 1970 College Division National Championships and earned a berth in the NCAA Division I Championships, finishing his season with a 22-3 record. Honored as the South Dakota Men's College Athlete of the Year in 1970, Trapp also was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
