South Dakota State's women's basketball program blazed a trail in the transition to Division I. We relive many of the highlights on this week's Jackrabbit Insider.
The 2006-07 squad was a memorable one. They hosted and beat a top 25 ranked foe - the Southern California Women of Troy - and won a game at Minnesota that led to a rewording of the NCAA rulebook. Remember those wins and their deep run into the WNIT.
SDSU's first year of NCAA eligibility was in 2008-09, and SDSU took the women's basketball world by storm. They won 32 games and spent most of the year ranked nationally. We remember that sensational squad, their Summit League title run and the 90-55 rout of TCU in the NCAA Tournament.
That season was the first of five consecutive Summit League tournament titles. We'll take a stroll down memory lane and showcase each of the Jacks' championships.
And Willow Lake native and 1,000 point scorer Jennifer Wakenthien is profiled in this week's Jackrabbit Legends.
