BROOKINGS, S.D.—With the athletic season more than two weeks away, the Jackrabbit Sports Network and Jackrabbit Sports Properties announced the 2014-15 broadcast team, its radio affiliates and audio coverage changes on GoJacks.com.

Veteran play-by-play man Tyler Merriam returns for his fourth season as the “Voice of the Jackrabbits” for football and men’s basketball. The 2012 South Dakota Sportscaster of the Year also serves as host of the Jackrabbit Daily Sports Update, John Stiegelmeier Radio show and the Jackrabbit Basketball Coaches show.

Former defensive back Mike Struck joins Merriam again in the football radio booth. Struck, who lettered for the Jackrabbits from 1994-97, is in his third season as the color commentator for the Jackrabbit football broadcasts.

Scotty Kwas returns in his role as sideline reporter for the football broadcasts, which he has handled since 2005. The award-winning sports broadcaster also makes his return to the basketball court, where he will share women’s basketball play-by-play responsibilities with Brad Peterson in 2014-15.

Kwas covered Jackrabbit women’s hoops from 1998-2008, including SDSU’s Division II national title run in 2003.

Peterson is the newest addition to the Jackrabbit Sports Network family, with more than 25 years of play-by-play experience. He rejoins the network after working alongside Kris Stephens in the first incarnation of the Jackrabbit Sports Network in the 1980s.

SDSU fans can hear the Jackrabbit Sports Network on 10 affiliates, including WNAX 570 AM in Yankton serving as the flagship of the network. All football and men’s basketball broadcasts and most women’s games will be heard on WNAX 570 AM this year. New affiliates joining the Jackrabbit Sports Network in 2014-15 are KELO-AM 1320 & KELQ-FM 107.9 in Sioux Falls and KCCR 1240 AM in Pierre.

Additionally, all SDSU football and basketball audio broadcasts will stream free on GoJacks.com in 2014-15.

The broadcast season starts Aug. 25 with the John Stiegelmeier Radio Show live at 6 p.m. at Cubby’s Sports Bar & Grill. The Jackrabbit Daily Sports Update, a three-minute daily spotlight of SDSU athletics, also starts Aug. 25.

All Jackrabbit football games begin with a one-hour pregame show and finish with a 30-minute postgame live from the game site on the Jackrabbit Sports Network. During the basketball seasons, pregame begins a half hour before tip and postgame runs a half hour.
