South Dakota State University freshman diver Brad Schoreit has been honored as the Summit League Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for his performances in the Jackrabbits' season-opening meet.

A native of Omaha, Neb., Schoreit swept the diving events in the Oct. 16 dual against the University of North Dakota. He broke a 29-year-old school record in the 3-meter competition, compiling a score of 246.93 over six dives to eclipse the previous mark of 239.55 set by Pete Vanderpan in 1980. Schoreit opened the meet by winning the 1-meter event with a score of 228.23.
