Schreier wins Summit award again
For the second time this season, South Dakota State University freshman Chris Schreier has been named Summit League Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week.
A native of Portage, Ind., Schreier was part of two school and pool records during a Nov. 5 home dual against Wisconsin-Green Bay. In the first men's event of the evening, Schreier swam the butterfly leg of the Jackrabbits' winning 400-yard medley relay that broke both standards with a time of 3 minutes, 29.89 seconds.
Individually, Schreier earned victories in the 200 freestyle (1:45.02) and the 200 butterfly. His Summit League-best time of 1:51.96 in the 200 fly was more than seven seconds better than his closest competitor and set school and pool records.
Schreier also received the award following the Jackrabbits' season-opening dual victory over North Dakota on Oct. 16. SDSU's next action is Nov. 20 with a home dual against the University of South Dakota.
