SDSU wrap up day one in Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - The first day of the Minnesota Challenge was a good one for the South Dakota State men's and women's swimming and diving team with mutiple top 10 finishes.
Alexandra Hoffman had the best finish of the day as she swam the 50 freestyle in 24.23 seconds. Freshman Shauna Foor finished eighth in the event in 24.57 sec.
In the 500 freestyle, Andrea Budahl placed fourth in 5 minutes, 9.69 seconds. Jessica Ferley (5:13.61) finished seventh and Emma Gaulke-Janowki finished eighth (5:13.86).
On the men's side, the 400 medley relay of Phil Albu, Shea Patrick, Chris Schreier and Kyle Ochsner finished third with a time of 3:33.78.
Patrick went on the place ninth in the 200 IM in 2:00.20 with teammate Andrew Martin a close 10th in 2:00.32.
Schreier clocked a time of 21.94 sec., a season best, in the 50 freestyle to finish 19th, with fellow freshman Albu in 20th in 21.96 sec.
The second and final day of the event starts tomorrow at noon.
