More records set at Indy
INDIANAPOLIS, IND - Four more records on the men's side and another for the women highlighted day three of the Summit League Championships for the South Dakota State swimming and diving team.
After winning the prelims of the 400 IM, Chris Schreier cut three more seconds off his time to place second in a school record 4 minutes, 1.29 seconds.
Fellow freshman Phil Albu broke the seven-year-old 200 freestyle record clocking in at 50.98 sec.
Sophomore Kyle Ochsner paced the Jacks with a record setting 200 freestyle finish of 1:41.25.
Those three, along with John Bisson capped off the evening with a 400 medley relay time of 3:26.89 to break the old school record set in 2007.
For the women, Jessica Ferley set a new school mark of 58.41 sec. in the 100 backstroke, breaking teammates Alexandra Hoffman's time in the event at the 2008 Championships.
The 400 medley relay of Ferley, Stephanie Young, Ashley Valdez and Kaylin Caron had solid second place finish of 3:54.55, coming just 0.16 seconds away from setting a new SDSU record.
The women hung on to their second place standing with 388.5 points after day three. The University of South Dakota is in third with 335. The men sit in fourth place with 299 points looking to hunt down Eastern Illinois who has third place with 320.
The final day of competition begins Saturday with swimming preliminaries starting at 11 a.m. (ET) followed by the finals starting at 6 p.m. (ET).
