Jackrabbit men beat WIU, lose to UND

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State men's swimming and diving team beat Western Illinois 217-69 but lost to North Dakota 149-144 in a home double dual on Friday.

North Dakota beat Western Illinois, 231-60.

Wil Hogue led the Jackrabbits, winning two individual events and finishing second in two relays. He set a school record in the men's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.43. Hogue also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.88.

Chris Schreier set the pool record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.94. He also won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:52.37.

SDSU finished in first place in four other events. Kyle Ochsner won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:58.08, and he also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:49.61. Phil Albu won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.00. Alex McLain won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.50.

The Jackrabbit men return to competition in St. Cloud, Minn. on Nov. 12.
