Kocourek breaks diving records

Sophomore Clark Kocourek broke two school diving records to help the men's swimming and diving team defeat the University of South Dakota 152-74 at the HPER Center Pool on Saturday afternoon.

Kocourek won the 1-meter diving and 3-meter diving competitions with respective school-record scores of 303.45 and 291.60.

Kyle Ochsner, Chris Schreier and Wil Hogue won two swimming events each.

Ochsner won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:45.52. The junior also won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 9:53.27.

Schreier won 200-yard IM with a time of 1:55.38 and the 200 butterfly in 1:53.76.

Hogue swept the sprints, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 21.32 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 46.82 seconds.

Also recording victories for the Jackrabbits were Phil Albu in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:54.03 and Shea Patrick in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:12.94

The 200-yard medley relay team of Albu, Patrick, Schreier and Hogue won with a time of 1:34.95.

The men's swimming and diving team will take on the University of North Dakota Jan. 27 in Grand Forks.
