MINNEAPOLIS -- Freshman Wil Hogue tied his own school record in the 50-yard freestyle Friday night as the South Dakota State University swimming and diving teams opened competition at the Minnesota Challenge.
Hogue finished 10th overall in the 10-team meet, but clocked a time of 21.19 seconds to tie the mark he set in the same pool two months ago.
Kyle Ochsner was the highest individual finisher for the Jackrabbit men on Friday, placing eighth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4 minutes, 40.09 seconds.
On the women's side, SDSU placed three swimmers in the top 10 of the 500 freestyle. Andrea Budahl led the Jackrabbit contingent with a fifth-place time of 5:07.88, Samantha Fossum was sixth in 5:08.31 and Jessica Ferley placed ninth in 5:09.19.
The unscored meet wraps up with two sessions Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.
