Jacks drop dual to 'Yotes

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The Jackrabbit women’s swim and dive team fell just short of a victory over in-state rival University of South Dakota by a final margin of 150-148 on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Andee Budahl picked up wins in the 800-freestyle, 400-freestyle and 200 individual medley. The Mitchell native posted a 9:22.51 swim in the 800-free and a time of 4:35.49 in the 400-free.

Budahl notched a time of 2:30.80 in the 200 individual medley, followed closely by freshman Kayce Smith in second place with a time of 2:31.96.

Sophomore Nicole Grimit won the 200-freestyle in a time of 2:12.00. Grimit was also part of the winning 200-free relay team of senior Devonne Dalin, freshman Abby Zenner, junior Kaylin Caron and Grimit, finishing in 1:50.63.

Junior Emma Wright captured the 200-butterfly swim in a time of 2:28.57.

Dalin was the top swimmer in the 100-freestyle with a time of 1:00.56.

Freshman diver Oliva Olesiak placed second in the one meter diving event with a score of 222.07.

The Jacks are back in the HPER center pool next Saturday against St. Cloud State (Minn) with a 2 p.m. start time.
