Potts takes sixth in the mile

BROOKINGS - The women’s track and field team found success today on the road at the USD Alumni meet and the Bill Bergan Invite. Tera Potts continued her great work in the mile as she placed sixth with a time of 4:58.73. Potts’ time of 4:58.73 is her season-best and less than two seconds off of her personal best.

 

At the Bill Bergan Invite:

 

Krista Creager and Brooke Peterson both recorded personal bests in the mile today.

Creager clocked in at 5:09.31, while Peterson finished in 5:16.36.

 

Carly Carper placed seventh in the 60-meter dash with her time of 7.84 seconds. Carper now ranks sixth in SDSU history in the 60-meter dash.

 

Megan Bren posted a time of 58.92 in the 400-meter dash. Her time is now the SDSU season-best in the 400-meter dash.

 

Jessica Eibs set a team-best for 2013 in the 800-meter dash with her time of 2:17.54.

 

Gina Fritz recorded a season-best time of 25.40 in the 200-meter dash. Fritz finished sixth.

 

Erin Hargens knocked off 16 seconds off of her 3000-meter time from earlier this season. Hargens placed 13th with a time of 10:06.76.

 

At the USD Alumni Meet:

 

Megan Hurlbert ran a time of 27.66 in the 200-meter dash. Her personal best in the event was 27.81.

 

Lisa Krogstad completed the 400-meter dash in 1:03.33.

 

Erica Meyer took ninth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:24.95.

 

In the mile Alex Suhr finished in 5:41.25.

 

Rochelle Wynia completed the 3000-meter run in 11:30.94.

 

The 4x400-meter relay team took seventh with a time of 4:20.33.

 

Kali Olson took second in the high jump with a height of 5’ 05.75”. Her height ranks fifth in The Summit League.

 

Amy Leiferman recorded a height of 10’ 11.75" in the pole vault, her mark today is a new personal best. 

 

Abby Davis 14’ 04.00" in the long jump.

 

Jenna Stephens placed sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 36’ 04.00". Her mark ranks seventh in The Summit League.

 

In the shot put, McKenzie Johnson took first and Shelby Assmus placed second. Johnson had a mark of 47’ 06.50" and Assmus recorded a distance of 46’ 06.75".


Brooke Garner won the weight throw with a mark of 59’ 10.50", while Johnson placed second. Johnson had a distance of  53’ 11.75”.  Assmus placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 53’02.75”. Amy Paulzine took seventh with a distance of 50’ 04.75”.

 

The Jackrabbits will be back on the road again next weekend as they travel to Lincoln, Neb. and Fargo, N.D. Nebraska will be hosting the Husker Invite over Feb. 1 and 2. North Dakota State is hosting the Bison Open on Feb. 1 and 2.
