Jacks finish season undefeated in duals

BROOOKINGS, S.D. -- The South Dakota State men's swimming diving team defeated the University of North Dakota 180-120 on Saturday to finish 7-0 in dual meets this season.

Seniors Shea Patrick and Kyle Ochsner each won two individual events in their final home meet as Jackrabbits.

Shea Patrick won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:12.51 and the 200 individual medley in 1:58.81. Patrick also swam the second leg of the winning 400 medley relay team of Phil Albu, Garth Wadsworth and Wil Hogue. The team finished with a time of 3:31.24.

Kyle Ochsner won two events on the day to reach 50 career wins as a Jackrabbit. Ochsner won the 1,000 freestyle in 9:49.23 and later won the 500 freestyle in 4:47.86.

Phil Albu swept the backstroke events with times of 52.45 seconds and 1:54.53.

Wil Hogue swept the freestyle events with times of 21.31 and 47.18 seconds.

Clark Kocourek won the one-meter diving event with a score of 321.38. Kocourek placed second in the three-meter with a school record score of 320.33.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Ben Bolinske, Albu, Wadsworth and Hogue won with a time of 3:09.49.

The team will finish the regular season at the Minnesota Challenge on Feb. 8-9.

The Summit League Championships are Feb. 20-23 in Rochester, Mich.
