MINNEAPOLIS – In day one of the Jack Johnson Invite select Jackrabbits found themselves competing. Tomorrow SDSU will have more athletes competing as there is a full day of events planned.
On the men’s side:
Bennett Mercil competed in the heptathlon for the Jacks.
Mercil finished the 60-meter dash in 7.47.
Mercil recorded a height of 5' 07.75" in the high jump.
In the shot put, Mercil had a distance of 36' 08.25".
To round out the heptathlon, Mercil recorded a mark of 19' 11.75".
Chris Curry ran unattached in the 200-meter dash and recorded a time of 23.11.
Jeremiah Ary recorded a mark of 21' 02.75" in the long jump. Ary placed ninth.
On the women’s side:
Ashley Odegaard posted a distance of 17' 01.11" in the long jump.
Gina Fritz ran the 200-meter dash in 25.44. Her time of 25.44 is an improvement of her time of 25.66, which was recorded at the MSU Preseason Open earlier this season.
Megan Bren ran a time of 25.66 in the 200-meter dash, which is a personal best for her. Her previous best was 25.67.
Marissa Hagedorn posted a height of 10' 06.00" in the pole vault.
Abby Davis was the lone Jackrabbit to compete in the pentathlon.
Davis completed the 60-meter dash in 10.50 seconds.
Davis also cleared a height of 4' 09.00" in the high jump.
In the shot put, Davis recorded a distance of 23' 07.50".
Davis posted a mark of 13' 11.75" in the long jump.
In the final event of the pentathlon, the 800, Davis finished in 2:41.28.
Overall in the pentathlon Davis collected 2462 points.
The Jackrabbits will be back in action again tomorrow at the Jack Johnson Invite, the first events are scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
