Jackrabbit men close out Howard Wood
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota State men’s track and field team posted top-10 results on the final day of the Howard Wood Dakota Relays. Jeremiah Ary posted a second-place finish in the long jump event.
Ary was the top collegiate finisher in the long jump event. He claimed the runner-up spot with his mark of 23 feet, 2 1/2 inches.
Traxton Priebe competed in both 110- and 400-meter hurdle events. Priebe placed 13th in the 110-meter hurdles (16.09 seconds) and posted a personal-best time of 55.37 in the 400-meter hurdles en route to a ninth-place finish. Also in the 400-meter hurdles, Justin Carson took fifth with his season-best time of 54.39.
Jesse Dunn posted a top-10 finish in the 100-meter dash. He clocked in at 11.05 to place eighth.
In the 1,500-meter run, three Jackrabbit runners placed in the top-10. A day after his third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Drew Kraft took sixth with his time of 4:00.27. Daniel Pettit (4:02.53) and Grant VanKeulen (4:04.59) finished eighth and 10th, respectively.
Three Jackrabbits placed in the top-10 of the pole vault event. Ryan Schaefer (15-5 3/4) and Nathaniel Schaefer (15-0) finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Also in the pole vault, Tyler Hajek rounded out the top-10 with his height of 14-0.
The Jackrabbits travel to Fargo, N.D., on Friday for the NDSU Tune-Up. The NDSU Tune-Up is the final meet before the conference meet in two weeks.
