Leischner captures Summit weekly
Luke Leischner captures his first career Summit League
Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award after his performance on the
track at the Bill Bergan Invitational last week.
Leischner won the 400 meters with a time of 47.37 seconds. The time marks a league-best, the 23rd fastest time in the nation and the second-best time at South Dakota State.
The Tripp, S.D. native also anchored the second-place 4x400 relay team with a time of 3:14.87, including his split of 46.80. The team's time is a school record at SDSU and the second-fastest league time this season.
The junior also holds the second-best league time in the 200 meters and the sixth-best time in the 60 meters.
Leischner marks the third Jackrabbit this season to be honored with the weekly award.
The men's and women's track and field teams head to Fargo, N.D. Friday and Saturday to compete in the Bison Open.
