BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams recorded a group of event wins at the SDSU Twilight in Brookings, S.D., Monday night.
Jared Vlastuin led the way with two wins in the high jump and the long jump with marks of six feet four inches and 24-5.75, respectively. Vlastuin's long jump is the second-best jump at SDSU and bests his former second-place jump of 24-5.
Ben Jasinski won the triple jump with a leap of 48-3.50.
On the track, the Jackrabbits recorded relay wins in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 42.24 seconds and the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:18.24.
Jared Foote won the 400 meters with a time of 49.33, while Luke Leischner won the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.14. Marshall Kambestad finished the 3,000 meters in 8:47.06 for first place and Brandon Priebe finished the 400-meter hurdles in 55.66 to take the first-place spot.
On the women's side, Brittany Garner won the 100 meters with a time of 12.15, Ashley Odegaard won the 200 meters with a time of 25.50 and Heather Wollman won the 400 meters with a time of 56.79. Erin Hargens finished the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:40.58.
The 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relays teams both recorded wins with times of 46.84 and 3:52.75, respectively. The 4x100-meter time ranks fourth at SDSU, while the 4x400-meter time ranks ninth.
Brooke Garner notched second in the discus and hammer, but the first-place spot among collegiate throwers. In the discus, her toss of 157-10 followed North Dakota State track and field assistant coach Rachel Longfors, competing unattached. Garner's hammer toss of 177-7 followed SDSU track and field volunteer assistant coach Aubrey Baxter, also competing unattached.
The Jacks are back in action with the Drake Relays April 28-30 in Des Moines, Iowa.
SDSU hosts The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 12-14 at the Sandford Health Sports Complex in Sioux Falls, S.D.
