Jacks wrap up Drake Relays
DES MOINES, Iowa - The South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the Drake Relays Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa, with a group of top-25 event finishes.
Ben Jasinski led the way with a fourth-place high jump mark of six feet 11.75 inches and a 16th-place triple jump of 47-01.50. Jared Vlastuin placed 16th in the high jump finals with a leap of 6-06.75.
The Jackrabbit men's distance medley relay team of Jared Ailts, Luke Leischner, Jake Schneller and Michael Krsnak finished the race in nine minutes 54.92 seconds for eighth place, while the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay team placed 14th with a time of 3:29.35. The 1,600-sprint medley team of Chris Curry, Dustin Gibbons, Brandon Priebe and Dominic Thielen recorded the seventh-best time on SDSU's all-time top-10 list.
On the field for the women, Brooke Garner finished the hammer throw in 22nd place with a toss of 169-10.
The Jackrabbit track teams head toward the end of the outdoor season with back-to-back meets in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Jacks head to the Howard Wood Relays May 6-7 before they host The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 12-14 at the Sanford Health Sports Complex.
