Jacks claim 21 All-Summit League selections

ELMHURST, Ill. - South Dakota State claims 21 All-Summit League selections prior to the 2011 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships presented by American Airlines at the Sanford Health Sports Complex's Lillibridge Track.

The Championships, hosted by SDSU, kick off Thursday at 11 a.m. with the men's decathlon. Competition continues Friday at 11 a.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. The final awards ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The spectator gate opens at Lillibridge Track at 10 a.m. Thursday and Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday. For ticket and other spectator information, click here.

The Jackrabbit men ranked second in the preseason poll and the women ranked third, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

ALL-SUMMIT LEAGUE WOMEN'S SELECTIONS:
Megan Bren, Sophomore, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Bren earns the all-league selection as a member of the no. two ranked 4x100-meter relay team. The team, consisting of Bren, Heather Wollman, Ashley Odegaard and Brittany Garner recorded a school record time of 46.08 seconds at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays last week.

Brittany Garner, Senior, Rapid City, S.D.
Garner also earned a spot on the all-league team as part of the school record 4x100-meter relay team. The team ranks no. two in the league with a time of 46.08.

Brooke Garner, Sophomore, Rapid City, S.D.
Garner owns the top league spot in two events, as well as a spot in the top-50 in the NCAA. Her school record hammer throw of 187 feet 11 inches leads the league and ranks 49th in the nation. She also tops The Summit League in the discus with a toss of 159-9.

Ashley Lange, Senior, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Lange ranks first in the league in the triple jump. Her leap of 39-1 is the third-best jump at SDSU all time and bests the second-place jump by over eight inches.

Jennifer Mack, Senior, Watertown, S.D.
Mack owns the no. three hammer throw with a toss of 177-7.

Ashley Odegaard, Freshman, Brookings, S.D.
Odegaard makes an appearance on the all-league team as a part of the no. two 4x100-meter relay. The team, consisting of Odegaard, Bren, Wollman and Brittany Garner recorded a school record time of 46.08 seconds at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays last week.

Michelle Schuch, Senior, Tyndall, S.D.
Schuch's season-best discus toss of 156-1 ranks second in the league and is the fourth-best toss at SDSU all time.

Mary Wirth, Freshman, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Wirth is one of two Jackrabbit women to rank in the top-50 in the nation. Her SDSU-record high jump of 5-9.75 ranks 36th in the NCAA and second in the league.

Heather Wollman, Senior, Bridgewater, S.D.
Wollman earns an all-league spot as a member of the no. two 4x100-meter relay team. The team, consisting of Wollman, Odegaard, Bren and Brittany Garner recorded a school record time of 46.08 seconds at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays last week.

ALL-SUMMIT LEAGUE MEN'S SELECTIONS:
Sean Burns, Senior, Rapid City, S.D.

Burns claims top league spots in both the hammer throw and the shot put. He owns the league-best hammer throw of 191-7. The mark is also the SDSU school record. Burns ranks third in the shot put with a mark of 53-11.75, the fifth-best mark all time at SDSU.

Chris Curry, Freshman, Dell Rapids, S.D.
Curry appears on the all-league team as a part of the third-ranked 4x100-meter relay team. The team of Curry, Landon Lupi, Dustin Gibbons and Luke Leischner recorded a time of 41.86, the sixth-best time at SDSU, all time.

Arran Davis, Junior, Winona, Minn.
Davis owns the no. two javelin throw in the league to earn an all-league team spot. His toss of 190-0 ranks third on the SDSU all-time top-10 list.

Jared Foote, Junior, Custer, S.D.
Foote earns a spot as a part of the no. three 4x400-meter relay team. The team of Foote, Gibbons, Jake Schneller and Leischner finished the relay with a time of 3:13.09, the sixth-best time on the SDSU all-time top-10 list.

Dustin Gibbons, Junior, Brookings, S.D.
Gibbons appears in two relay teams, both ranked third in the league. He competed in the 4x400-meter relay team and the 4x100-meter relay team. The 4x400-meter team of Gibbons, Foote, Schneller and Leischner finished the race in 3:13.09, while the 4x100-meter relay team of Gibbons, Lupi, Curry and Leischner crossed the line at the 41.86 mark.

Ben Jasinski, Senior, Rapid City, S.D.
Jasinski is the only Jackrabbit on the men's side to own a spot in the top-50 in the NCAA. His SDSU record high jump of 7-1 ranks 17th in the nation and first in the league. Jasinski also owns the no. two triple jump in the league with a leap of 49-9.

Michael Krsnak, Junior, Rapid City, S.D.
Krsnak ranks no. two in the league in both the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters. He finished the 5,000 meters in 14:24.32 and the 10,000 meters in 29:40.87. His 10,000-meter time ranks third on the SDSU all-time top-10 list.

Luke Leischner, Junior, Tripp, S.D.
Leischner claims top-three Summit League rankings in four events. He ranks second in both the 200 meters and 400 meters with times of 21.56 and 47.37, respectively. He also competed with the third-ranked 4x100-meter (41.86) and 4x400-meter (3:13.09) relay teams.

Landon Lupi, Senior, Rapid City, S.D.
Lupi claims a spot on the all-league team as a part of the 4x100-meter relay team. The team of Lupi, Gibbons, Curry and Leischner finished the race in 41.86.

Jake Schneller, Junior, Canton, S.D.
Schneller ranks no. three in the league in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:52.07 and ranks third as a part of the 4x400-meter relay team that finished the race in 3:13.09.

Jared Vlastuin, Junior, Lennox, S.D.
Vlastuin enters the championships ranked third in the both the high jump, with a leap of 6-10.75, and the long jump, with a mark of 24-5.75. His long jump mark ranks no. two on the SDSU all-time top-10 list.

Greg Vollmer, Junior, Rapid City, S.D.
Vollmer ranks no. two in the league in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his time of 9:05.54.
