South Dakota State student-athletes Ben Jasinski and Arran Davis have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII Men's Track and Field First Team. Both will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration later this month.

A senior from Rapid City, Jasinski earned recognition on the 10-member team for the second time with a 3.78 grade-point average while majoring in electrical engineering. Besides his academic accomplishments, Jasinski excelled in the field events during his career at SDSU, winning the high jump and placing second in the triple jump in earning Field MVP honors at the 2011 Summit League Outdoor Championships. He competed in both events at the NCAA West Preliminaries last week, narrowly missing a berth in the NCAA Championships with a 13th-place effort in the high jump. Jasinski holds school records in the indoor heptathlon and high jump both indoors and outdoors. In addition, Jasinski has been named to all-academic teams by The Summit League and the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Davis, a junior from Winona, Minn., earned a spot on the honor squad with a perfect 4.0 GPA in Spanish and global studies. He finished as runner-up in the javelin at the 2011 Summit League Outdoor Championships and holds the third-best mark in the event in school history. Davis has been a member of All-Summit League Academic Team and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.

Selections to the Capital One Academic All-District VII At-Large Team are based on votes by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America from South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in athletic standing, maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.3 and be a key contributor to the team.
