SDSU competes at two meets…

The South Dakota State men’s and women’s track and field teams Des Moines, Iowa, and Indianola, Iowa, at the Drake Relays and Kip Javrin Open this weekend…

On Day 1 at the Drake Relays, Jake Schneller headlined with a third-place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:51.11, which was a Relays record behind two other Relays records.

Kyle Schmidt finished the 10,000 meter run in 25th with a time of 31:07.42.

The lone women’s team competitor on the first day was Courtney Neubert, who placed 23rd in the 10,000 with a time of 37:28.02.

On Day 2, the men’s 4x800 meter relay team of Jared Ailts, Dominic Thielen, Lars Mattison and Greg Vollmer finished 16th with a time of 7:42.25.

Mary Wirth tied for 19th in the high jump with a leap of five feet, five inches.

On Saturday at the Drake Relays, Schneller, Priebe, Thielen and Ailts ran the distance medley in 9:46.46 for eighth.

In Indianola, Drew Kraft was the top finisher in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:34.62.

Trent Lusignan placed fifth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:59.57.

In the 110 meter hurdles, Brandon Priebe was seventh in 15.42.

Leah Bolon won the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:00.28, a season-best time by any SDSU runner.

Molly Kopfmann finished sixth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:57.89. Kopfmann was also 15th in the 800 with a time of 2:26.95.

Next up the Jacks travel to the USF Relays and NDSU Open. The two meets are scheduled for the weekend of May 4-5.
