Last weekend, SDSU competed at the Griak Invitational, which is hosted by the University of Minnesota. The men finished 14th as a team and were led by Trent Lusignan who finished 19th overall. The Jackrabbit women finished 23rd, behind a 121st place finish by Cheyanne Bowers.

The men won the team title with 25 total points. Four Jackrabbits finished in the top-10, including returners Lusignan (first) and Drew Kraft (ninth).

The women placed second last year at the Classic with Bowers being the top returner for the Jackrabbits (20th).

The SDSU Classic is South Dakota State’s annual cross country meet.

Eleven schools plus the South Dakota State Alumni team are scheduled to run at the 2013 SDSU Classic. The women will run at 6 p.m., while the men are slated to run at 6:30 p.m. The women’s race is a 5K and the men will run an 8k.

There is also a kids 1k following the races at 6:05 p.m. The run is free, but a waiver will have to be signed. The waiver must be signed between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the tent near the finish line.

The Jackrabbit men are heading into this weekend with three Summit League Athlete of the Week awards underneath their belt. Lusignan won his first award earlier this week, while Joel Reichow won back-to-back awards earlier this season. The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rank the men No. 10 in the Midwest Region.

Last weekend at the Griak Invitational all the members of the women’s team set personal best times at the meet.

The Jackrabbits will not compete next weekend as the prep for the Bradley Classic. The Bradley Classic will take place on Oct. 18 in Peoria, Ill.
