The South Dakota State men's cross country team was voted 12th in the Midwest Region of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll released on September 12.

The Week #1 ranking comes two weeks after the Jacks opened the season ranked 8th in the preseason poll.

SDSU finished in 1st place of 4 teams at the Ron Pynn Invitational (hosted by North Dakota) and in 3rd place of 6 teams at the OZ Memorial (hosted by Minnesota).

Senior Greg Vollmer was the top finisher for the Jackrabbits in each meet. At the Ron Pynn Invitational, he was the individual champion with a time of 25 minutes and 31.70 seconds, first place by over 30 seconds. At the OZ Memorial he ran the course in 19 minutes and 32.97 seconds to finish in fifth place, 13 seconds behind the leader.

Next up for the men's cross country team is the Roy Griak Invitational (hosted by Minnesota) on Saturday, Sept. 24, in Minneapolis, Minn., at Noon.
