SDSU men seventh at Griak

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. -- Michael Krsnak finished fifth individually to lead the South Dakota State University men's cross country team to a seventh-place finish in the team standings Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational.

A senior from Rapid City, Krsnak covered the 8,000-meter course at Les Bolstad Golf Course in 24 minutes and 48 seconds. Kelly Wiebe of the University of Regina won the Men's Gold race, which featured 143 runners, in 24:19.

Sophomore Trent Lusignan turned in another strong performance for the Jackrabbits, finishing 12th overall in 25:06. Jared Ailts placed 36th overall in 25:43, followed by Drew Kraft in 64th place with a time of 26:20. Joel Reichow rounded out the scoring runners for the Jackrabbits with a 73rd-place time of 26:32.

Also competing for the Jackrabbits were freshmen Phillip LaVallee, 89th in 27:04, and Andrew Thies, 92nd in 27:06.

Host Minnesota won the 15-team event with 67 points, followed by Iowa State with 84 points and the University of Guelph (Canada) in third with 117.
