The men finished in seventh as a team. Trent Lusignan is the top returner for the Jacks, as he claimed 12th with his time of 25:06.
The women’s team took 15th overall at the 2012 Griak. Cheyanne Bowers had the best finish out of the returning Rabbits, as she placed 100th with an overall time of 23:34.
THE 2013 GRIAK
The Griak Invitational is one of the largest cross county meets in the nation. The University of Minnesota is the host for the annual Griak Invitational.
The women’s run will have 26 teams competing, eight of which competed at the 2012 NCAA Championships. Ten of the 26 teams are ranked by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The field is set for about 350 runners. South Dakota is the only other Summit League team running at the Griak Invitational. The women will run a 6k starting at 1:10 p.m.
Twenty-two teams will be running on the men’s side. Arizona State (29th), Brigham-Young (4th) and North Carolina State (24th) are all currently ranked in the USTFCCCA Poll. Georgia (8), Michigan State (11) and Missouri (3) are not ranked, but they are receiving votes. The men will run an 8k starting at 12:20 p.m.
Reichow’s time of 19:19.5 currently ranks second in The Summit League. After not competing in the first two races of the year for the Jackrabbits, Lusignan will be making his 2013 debut at the Griak Invitational. The men are currently ranked 11th in the Midwest Region by the USTFCCCA.
Neubert has been the top finisher for the Jackrabbits in the first two meets. She placed ninth at the Bison Open and 17th at the Oz Memorial.
The Jackrabbits return home to host the annual SDSU Classic on Oct. 4 at the Edgebrook Golf Course in Brookings. The women will run a 5k at 6 p.m. and the men will follow with an 8k at 6:30 p.m.
