Jacks hit the road to ISU and NDSU

The South Dakota State men’s and women’s track and field teams are heading back to Ames, Iowa and Fargo, N.D. this weekend. The Jackrabbits are scheduled to compete in the Bison Open and the ISU Classic. The Bison Open will take place on Saturday, while the ISU Classic will be on Friday and Saturday.


About the Bison Open:


This will be the second weekend in a row that the Jacks will be traveling to NDSU. Last weekend, the Jackrabbits had numerous players record personal bests including, Marissia Hagedorn who finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with time of 9.36 seconds.


The men's weight throw will start the field events at 11 a.m., while the women’s 5000-meter run will start the running events at noon.


About the ISU Classic:


Just a few weeks ago the Jackrabbits competed at the Bill Bergan Invite hosted by Iowa State. The last time SDSU competed at Iowa State, Tera Potts finished sixth in the mile with a time of 4:58.73.


On the men’s side, Drew Kraft posted a personal best in the 3000-meters with his time of 8:40.34, LeAndre Kennedy completed the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.98 seconds and Luke Leischner posted a time of 22.13 seconds in the 200-meter dash.


The field events will start at 10 a.m. with the men’s long jump. At noon the men's 3000-meter run will begin the running events. 


Around The Summit League:


Kennedy is tied for fourth in the 60-meter dash (6.98 seconds).


Leischner is second in the 200 and 400-meter dashes (22.13 and 48.61 seconds).


Gina Fritz is tied for third in the 200-meter dash (25.05 seconds).


Michael Krsnak is second in the mile with a time of 4:10.66.


Potts is second in the mile with a time of 4:57.37.


Trent Lusignan is second in the 3000-meters with his time of 8:24.14.


Erin Hargens is fifth in the 3000-meters with her time of 10:06.76.


The women’s 4x400 relay team ranks fifth with their time of 3:55.26.


Connor Berg ranks fifth in the high jump with his height of 6’ 4.75”.


Johnson is fourth in the shot put with a mark of 47’ 6.50”.


Brooke Garner is second in the weight throw with a mark of 59’ 10.5”.


Bennett Mercil ranks fifth in the heptathlon with 4593 points.


Up next:


The Jackrabbits will be splitting squads again next weekend, as they travel to Lincoln, Neb. and Vermillion, S.D. The Jacks will be competing in the Nebraska Tune-Up and the South Dakota Twilight.
