South Dakota State University football players Doug Peete and Zach Zenner have been named to preseason watch lists for their respective positions by College Football Performance Awards.

A senior defensive end, Peete received the recognition after earning second-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors in 2012. The Olathe, Kan., native recorded a team-high 13.5 tackles for loss, while sharing the team lead with six sacks. He finished the 2012 campaign with 54 total tackles (38 solo), with six pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

Zenner, a junior running back from Eagan, Minn., burst onto the scene in 2012 by leading the Football Championship Subdivision with 2,044 rushing yards (157.2 yards per game). A consensus All-American, he crossed the 100-yard mark in nine games and topped 200 yards three times, including a school-record 295 yards in the opening round of the FCS playoffs versus Eastern Illinois. Zenner averaged 6.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns on the ground, while adding 28 receptions for 197 yards.

The Jackrabbits, 9-4 overall a season ago, open the 2013 campaign with an Aug. 31 home game against Butler (Ind.).
