South Dakota State University players Mitch Erickson and Chris Wagner were recently honored as honorable mention All-America selections for the 2006 season by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
Erickson, an offensive lineman from Hutchinson, Minn., was named to the squad after anchoring a Jackrabbit unit that cleared the way for the team to average 342 total yards of offense per game. He was also honored on the all-Great West Football Conference Team and was a third-team All-America selection by The Associated Press in 2006.
A Brookings native, caught 24 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns during the 2006 season. A first-team all-Great West Football Conference selection at tight end, Wagner ranked third on the team in both receptions and receiving yards.
Both Erickson and Wagner will enter their senior seasons this fall. The Jackrabbits, who ended the 2006 season with a 7-4 record and ranked in the final Football Championship Subdivision polls, will open the 2007 campaign Aug. 30 at Western Illinois.
