ELMHURST, Ill. — For the second time this season, South Dakota State forward Megan Waytashek has been named Summit League Player of the Week after leading the Jackrabbits to a pair of victories.

A 6-foot sophomore from Lino Lakes, Minn., Waytashek scored a career-high 30 points, including the game-winning putback basket as time expired, in a Jan. 12 victory at Fort Wyane. She made a career-best six three-pointers and added 11 rebounds in posting her third double-double of the season.

Waytashek opened the week by tallying 13 points, five rebounds and three assists Jan. 10 at Oakland.

In averaging 21.5 points and eight rebounds per game, Waytashek shot 54 percent (15-of-28) from the field, including 8-for-14 from three-point range. She also was 5-of-6 at the free throw line despite having her streak of 22 consecutive made free throws end with her first attempt at Oakland.

Waytashek, who also was named Summit League Player of the Week on Dec. 10, has scored in double figures in all five league games and is pacing the league-leading Jackrabbits during conference play with averages of 18 points and seven rebounds per game. For the season, Waytashek ranks second on the squad by averaging 14.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.

SDSU returns to home action Thursday, hosting Western Illinois in a 7 p.m. contest at Frost Arena.
