Weather won't slow down the Jacks
With a few slight changes to the schedule this weekend the Jackrabbits will still be heading to the Sioux City Relays and the Nebraska Quad.
About the Meets:
The Jackrabbits will be competing in the Sioux City Relays in Sioux City, Iowa and the Nebraska Quad in Lincoln, Neb. The Sioux City Relays will be a mix of DI, DII and NAIA schools. A few schools that will be attending are: Augustana (SD), Dakota St., Buena Vista, Morningside, South Dakota, Sioux Falls and Wayne State.
Despite the poor weather in Sioux City the plan is for the meet to carry on as with a slight adjustment. The only change to the meet is that the all the field events will move to Saturday except the hammer throw.
At the Nebraska Quad, the Jackrabbits will be competing against Nebraska, Tulsa and Wyoming. The field events will start the day at 11:00 a.m. with the women’s hammer throw and the men’s shot put. The running events will start at 3:00 p.m. with the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase.
Summit League Rankings:
SDSU has four of the top five times in the women’s 100-meter dash.
Jared Foote still leads the league with his time of 48.34 in the 400-meters.
Trent Lusignan leads the 5000-meter run with his time of 14:13.11.
The Jackrabbits have 24 top-five marks or times in The Summit League.
Garner Continues To Win:
Brooke Garner has won three events in the past two weeks and she beat her school record in the hammer throw last weekend. She also won her third career Summit League Athlete of The Week Award earlier this week. Garner has now won 28 career events while SDSU.
SDSU will be splitting up the teams next weekend as they travel to California and Kansas. Out west the Jacks will be competing in the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach State Invite. SDSU will also be competing in the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan. starting on Wednesday.
