Loran Strunk joined South Dakota State in August 2017, and now in her seventh year oversees sports medicine duties for the Jackrabbits' women's soccer team. She previously worked with SDSU's volleyball, women's basketball and swim and dive programs.
Additionally, Strunk handles numerous administrative duties, including management and instruction of athletic training students, maintenance of departmental AEDs, modality safety checks and coordination of student-athlete physicals. She also serves as athletic training coordinator for all Jackrabbit summer camps.
Prior to South Dakota State, Strunk spent two years pursing a masters degree at the University of South Carolina (2015-17). She worked with the Gamecocks' women's tennis and golf programs in 2015-16, then spent a year at Allen University (2016-17) as the head athletic trainer as part of her graduate assistant clinical assignments. While at Allen University, she was the primary medical provider for men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cross country, and track and field.Â
From East Palatka, Florida, she organized coverage for the 2016 and 2017 NCAA Women's Tennis Championships at South Carolina, supervised student athletic trainers and prospective students as a preceptor, and worked the Gamecocks' 2016 summer camps.

Strunk graduated with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Florida in 2015 and earned her master’s in advanced athletic training from South Carolina in 2017.
