ST. LOUIS MO - St. Louis rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat South Dakota State 5-4 and complete a baseball doubleheader sweep Saturday.
The Billikens scored won the opener 12-1.
St. Louis is now 5-5 for the season while SDSU fell to 0-5.
Originally, the teams were to play single games on Saturday and Sunday, but with inclement weather forecast for Sunday, the coaches decided to play a pair of nine-inning games Saturday.
SDSU will play at Southern Illinois in Carbondale Tuesday.
GAME ONE - St. Louis scored twice on three hits in the first inning including a run-scoring double by Greg Rodgers and an RBI single by Tim Landry. In the second, SLU loaded the bases on a single by Matt Mach sandwiched between two hit batters. One run scored on a single by Jon Guyre, another came home on a wild pitch, but Jackrabbit starter Robby Apo escaped further damage with back-to-back strikeouts.
Apo walked one and struckout five in six innings, but the SDSU bullpen had trouble finding the strike zone.
In the St. Louis seventh, Gary Olechoski relieved starter Robby Apo, retired the first two batters he faced, then walked the bases loaded. Kevin Morsching relieved Apo and walked Bill Musselman to force in a run, then was relieved by Isaac Johnson. Matt Mach greeted Johnson with his third hit of the game, a run-scoring single to make it 6-1 before Lance Rhodes fouled out to the catcher to end the inning.
St. Louis loaded the bases again in the eighth thanks to three walks, this time against
Jake Angier. Tim Landy delivered a two-run single and Gilbert Marlowe followed with a three-run homer, making it 12-1.
SDSU scored in the fifth when Tyson Fisher singled, went to third on a single by Kasey Keller and scored on a single by Brian Estes. Fisher had two of SDSUs six hits.

GAME TWO - SDSU scored three runs in the fourth when Cal Lewis tripled and scored on a single by Kasey Keller. Then Justin Morar doubled before Zach Miller delivered to a two-run single to right center.
After St. Louis closed within 3-2 with single runs in the fifth and seventh, the Jacks made it 4-2 in the ninth. Tony Martin and Nick Adams singled, putting runners on first and third with one out. Martin scored on a single by Greg Rogers.
SDSU starting pitcher Christian Larson worked the first six innings, allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
St. Louis loaded the bases with no one out in the ninth thanks to a hit batter, an error and a single. One run scored on balk, the tying run came home on a wild pitch and the winner was delivered on a single by Lance Rhodes.
